Review: Rebelde Blue by El Septimo

Updated: Oct 22, 2020

Todays review comes from the Luxus collection from the cigar masters over at El Septimo. A cigar that is full of flavor with optimal enjoyment. As always let us kick back with a perfectly sized and rolled cigar and see how this cigar ranks. I have no doubt that it will be an excellent smoke.

First Impression:

The Luxus series has offered me nothing but enjoyment so far. The flavors, the construction, the burn, and everything in between have always been way above and beyond. For this the question was not really if it would be a good cigar. The question now is how good will it be.

Pre-Smoke Ritual:

One week in the humidor was all this cigar needed. The aroma pre light was amazing and very noticeable. The feel was also amazing. Nothing left to do but make my cut and enjoy.

Lighting, Draw, and Burn:

No surprises here at all. Lighting this cigar was a slow and meticulous process. Amazing cigars deserve that type of attention. The draw was perfect. Enough to let you know you are smoking the high end, but not to loose where you have to work to get the smoke. The burn was also very even. No touch-ups throughout the entire smoke.

Flavor:

The initial light gave flavors and aroma of herbs. Shortly after as we got into the first third those flavors subsided a bit. The flavor of cedar took the lead. There were also earthy notes with just enough pepper in the background to make it comfortable, but not spicy. As I moved into the second third the cedar remained the star of the show which was welcomed. The herbs flavors have dissipated at this point. The earthy flavor remained which was a nice compliment to the cedar. Notes of barnyard had crept into the picture. The final third remained the same as the second third. The flavor proportions where on point. Down to the nub you could taste it all leaving you wanting more.

My Preference:

One week rest in the humidor was all that was needed. I used an Ammodor bullet punch to make my cut. My source of fire was an El Septimo Jet lighter.

Final Thoughts:

I was actually expecting something totally different form this cigar. It was a pleasant surprise when I got into this cigar. The classic cedar flavor was on another level. Each puff was as enjoyable as the one before it. It also made anticipation grow for the next one. Once you have experienced this cigar I am confident that you will making sure to get a few extra for your humidor.
